Church is not a building, place, name, or program – it is people. God has called us to be connected to one another in community. We believe that the best place for people to experience authentic community is within the gatherings that take place in homes, coffee shops, restaurants and third places. Community groups are distinct blends of people who practice the rhythms of worship, mission, and belonging together to become more like Jesus. Each group is a unique expression of the Garden’s rhythms and directions that help reflect our mission as a church. As such, these groups are great places for people to belong, encounter, engage, and serve in community. The typical size of a community group ranges from ten to thirty people. The specifics vary from one group to another, but the core practices are to study the Scriptures, to pray and serve one another, to engage culture, to practice the spiritual gifts, and to demonstrate love. A group typically meets once a week.
